Thanks BP. Very interesting to read the history and your thoughts along the way. I am, as I am sure many here are, truly grateful for your friendship, your generosity, your perspective and the great company your have built. You have every right to be proud of what you have created and the legacy you will leave.

The above might sound a bit sappy - but I am trying to express gratitude a bit more often for all the great things in my life. You and EBMM are on the list today!!

Cheers

That was a great read, thank you!

Does anyone know if the MM book periodically offered on ebay is accurate or worth a look?

Thanks BP, for a chance to read first hand about the lineage and heritage of one of the music world's most recognisable icons, the MM bass (in all its flavours). You have much to be proud of!!

As a side note: I was interested to see that the SR5 wasn't on your play list, but I understand that some players just prefer to play 4s. That certainly doesn't change how I feel about mine.

P.S. Thanks PZO for asking the question!!

Great story BP, makes me love my SR5 even a little bit more. Wish I had discovered the beauty of this instument years ago. Been a guitarist for 20+ years, a serious bassist for about 4 and never had a instument that sounded so perfect right out of the gate with close to flat settings all the way to the speakers. Your inspirations and hard work has brought me musical happiness.

I'm using you as my inspiration BP I haven't had a beer in three weeks. I use your idea of not quitting just not having any; it works pretty well once your friends get hip to the concept.

You already know I love to read your stories. :D

This is something Id be happy to talk to you about...dont worry Im not freaky on it but I can help a little. Start off getting used to something else you drink that is cold and bubbly I created the big poppa (sparkling mineral water, dash of cranberry, slice of lemon and lime and orange....I drink thousands of them daily and now they are popular at my club...) WHen people see you with what looks like a cocktail they usually dont bother you.....I have had four people in the last six months grab my big poppa while staring at me and cant believe that there is no alchohol because Im goofy without it.

Great story!

I too, would like to see a EB/EBMM history book with this type of info and stories.

Interesting that you should mention that when you walk into a music store, you mostly see P-Basses, Jazz Basses and StingRays (and their respective knock-off and "inspired" basses). It's so true. However, those are some good basses that have stood the test of time. They're still around because they look, sound and (for the most part) play good.

I guess to a certain extent, you have to force innovation. Eventually, people will come around if you can withstand the initial backlash or trepidation.

I heard someone order a Big Poppa at CLB. I should have gotten one. I was drinking...water.

I drank a boatload of Big Poppas at the factory shindig (Saturday night - the night before, Gary Hanser and I murdered a bottle of Bombay Sapphire).

As BP has said, after you drink a bunch of them, they start to taste like Pelligrino and cranberry juice.

But not bad, not bad.
