Hi Jon, I just saw a close up shot of Tony Levin's SR5 and it looks to have one of the new Bongo humbuckers in it. I know a long time ago he had posted on his site that he was beta testing the new pre-amp but I just was wondering if he has refitted his SR5 with the new Neo humbuckers and 18 volt pre???

Peter,

Where did you see that pic? I would love to see it. I will try to remember to ask Dudley about it on Monday(many Mothers day beers) I dont remember seeing anything but Bongos with the 18 volt system and the body would have to be routed for the P/ups etc.

Jon

Hi Jon,

http://tonylevin.com/pgsummer04tour4.htm

here's the link, it's from the latest Peter gabriel rehearsals, scroll to the bottom of the page to see a friend/tech(?) of Tony's holding his bass. It's the bevelled edge on the bottom of the pick up that made me wonder whether or not it's one of the new humbuckers.

cheers! and Happy Mother's Day... :p

that Jon is one bad mutha... watch yo mouth!!!

Hey! I remembered!! I asked Dudley if TL had a Bongo pickup, and he said no...I sent the pic to him to see what itis, and if we did it...It could be an after mkt thing that his tech did or something like that.

That certainly looks like the beveled edge of a Bongo pickup, but, check this out....only the TOP edge of the Bongo humbucker is beveled. I mean the side facing you, so that the edge acts as a nice little thumbrest.

So...if that IS a Bongo pickup, guess what? It's upside down.

And the side that is beveled has 2 screws....Its not a Bongo pickup...We will just have to wait and see

I sure do dig the color. I've been buying too many orange basses lately.

that's classic tony levin - he's always got an "interesting" color thing going on...
