hey guys havent been here in a while ive been hanging out at my church playing with them guys like all the time. But anyways i gotta a dumb qeustion but hey if i dont ask it how will i ever no, ok im wanting a more deepness lol or more "boomness" ,remember bovine that was me who made that up, so i decided to get some power slinky 5s but im gonna have to agjust my neck a little bit arent or atleast my string height. im just curious i can see how it would throw it out of wack for the four string considering the strings are much bigger but for the five stringer its just like .005 or somethin like that difference. So again i was just curious if i have to tweak my setup when i slap these puppies on?

It seems like every time I change string brands or gauges I have to tweak the setup slightly. I hate fret buzz so I usually need to pay careful attention to low B and E. Church is an awesome place to play bass, isn't it?

church is indeed a great place to play. man i feel so good playing there and it doesnt matter if ya mess up becuz everyones to busy praisin the lord. but yea thanx alot for the reply i was just scared i didnt no how badly the new strings would throw it off like how much more buzz there'd be but yea thanx again dood

If you heard the drudgery we have to listen to every Sunday morning you would cry not sing!

One horrible sounding organ and a choir filled with bromided octogenarians.

I don't know of any Catholic churches that encourage Contempory Praise & Worship Stuff. Help me out if I'm just being ignorant.

i know where your comin from my step mom was from a catholic church and she was a member until she divorced and married my daddy dog and they frownd on that so she isnt member any more but nayway yea i no what ur talkin about becuz the whole famdamly would go there for holidays and it seems to me that everything is the same and the music is all old school hyms but you no what those arent all bad either but it is very much more fun to play newer stuff for church

Yeah, you see the problem is also with the mentality of the majority of the congregation. Many only go to church because they are told from a very young age that they won't be allowed in upstairs when the good Lord calls time on them if they don't go to mass every week.

If you get a visiter to the church who is the slightest bit "progressive" and flings his arms outwide during the Lords Prayer, people start looking at him like he is some kind of a nut.

Once in a while a little folk group might bring out an acoustic or two, but it is still the same "old school" traditional drudgery.

I want hymns that get driven by some drum and bass thing, the local priest wants pomp and ceremony.

Time for an attitude change from the management in Rome! - Can just see that happening - NOT

Funny thing about it, nobody seemed to care about my beliefs and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Christ hang out w/ the thieves and hookers? Sorry, organized religion has become a sore spot so I had to vent... And besides, with the number of musicians that god has called home in the past few years, he has got to have a soft spot for loud music

Censor this thread if you want but this IS bass-related so I'll say my peace. Tattooed 888, you are welcome in our church anytime. I'll talk to our worship pastor and have you come up and play a couple numbers on bass. Yes our church has the chief of police, drug dealers, alcoholics, thieves, etc, etc, etc all worshipping the Lord together. I'm sure that we have a couple of people in our congregation that could rival your tattooedness (One is even affectionately known as "Tattoo Jim"). Our church is very BASS-driven and we make no apologies for that - Read Psalm 150.

Bassplyr; organized religion is not what it's about. The gift of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and each individual's decision to believe and accept that it was for your sins is what gets you into heaven, not organized religion. Our senior pastor understands and lives this; he knows that the BASS-driven praise and worship music brings many younger people in who ordinarily would not go to church to learn about Jesus.

Mods - censor this if you must but that's why BASS is so important in our church.

Ours is a big Morton Building (steel building) that everyone in the church worked on building. We only paid for the materials. Seats about 500 people max.

First Assembly of God in Jefferson, IA. Here's our worship team lineup:
• Bass (Me)
• 1 Electric Guitar
• 2 Acoustic Guitars
• 3 Keyboardists
• Drums
• Percussion (My Daughter - AWESOME!)
• Alto Sax/Clarinet
• Tenor / Soprano Sax
• (3) Alternating Worship Leaders
• 15-20 Piece Choir (including my wife and son-in-law who are wonderful singers)
• (Sometimes I play trumpet when our senior pastor's brother wants to play bass. My lip hasn't been in shape since I was in high school so I affectionately call my trumpet playing "Crippled Lamb Ministries )

-and our drummers is insane me and him and our guitarist play for our youth group on wednsdays. the bassplayer at our church before me was just insanley awsome and he moved away and hes coming back monday and i geuss hes taking up the guitar now and he said he wants me too play the bass while we all jam i just thought that was awosme

so yea this sunday i dono if u no delirious but were doing a song from them "did u feel the mountains tremble" and a couple others "lord reign in me" and "shout to the north" so it should be good so yea man

Hey we do all those too. Great songs. Our worship pastor keeps us on our toes for sure. Between am & pm service we do about 15-18 songs every Sunday. Seems like we don't repeat too often. The stuff I really like is the black gospel we do: Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Joe Pace, etc. Also tons of Paul Baloche and Brian Doerksen stuff. Big variety. Your band is smaller now, but hang on. We went from an average attendance of about 50 to 400+ in about 5 years. And we've got three times the musicians now. Hang in there & keep playin' the gospel - it will flourish.

I sat in on trumpet with an awesome jazz band a couple of weeks ago. They are called Dallas Christian Jazz Band (or just DCJB). Saxes, bones, trumpets, piano, bass and drums. About 20 members. You really need to hear what they do. All of their charts are Christian. They have a new CD out that is just awesome.
