First of all, let me say that I love my axis guitars and have absolutely no problems with them....
I was poking around some other forums ...and when the topic of basswood came up, a few people said it was a soft wood....
My question is...are there different types of basswood? My hardware seems extremely solid, and the tone is amazing....In fact, I've been getting rid of all my other guitars to get more EBMMs.

No...they were all talking about guitars they have actually owned...most of the basswood ones they were complaining about were Ibanez....but nobody was ganging up on any particular brand nor trying to "talk up" another brand...it was open.

But, i definitely know what you mean about all these internet guitar "engineers" that know better than everyone else.

I have a Master's degree in Engineering but I wouldn't claim to be any kind of expert as to what wood works best for a guitar.

Many times complaints regarding basswood come from people who are devotees of a brand that does not use basswood in any of their products. These people use the basswood argument as a reason why they prefer the "superior" quality of their chosen brand.

Guitar players are a funny bunch. Rather than proclaiming why their brand is best based on quality. They'll proclaim that their brand is best because everyone else sucks.

To me, it sounds really good and it's light....those are the most important things to me personally.

But Hey...I was only asking. That's how we learn.

I think the misconception is out there because basswood costs less. Basswood grows domestically, while other tone woods have been over harvested and are also imported.
