You could always paint it yourself. Buy some purple and green tempura paint, a bag of sparkles and some elmer's glue. It'll probably look even better. Give it a shot.

we can speculate about this forever......but customer service makes the call w/ reguard to your unique situation.........& decide what they can and cant do in your case.
to come on here and air the dirty laundry after already starting the customer service process w/ ebmm ......you may be painting yourself into a corner dude.

Hey bro, just keep the guitar... afterall, you will soon become an addict and own more than one anyway. :D If it feels and sounds perfect to you, then something so small as a non-matching headstock isn't a big deal. And like Radrock said, you could do it yourself... or check out Daneen: Custom Paint by Daneen

Good prices and great work there. Keep that guitar.

Woah, my post count is the same as my area code right now

ok fine I'm a dweeb....

honestly... you should keep up the dialog with MF. You were misled re: what you were buying. that's their problem not MMs.

the MF return policy is at:

Answer

they will/should abide by their own policy.

I never said it was Ernie Ball's problem... and I am not trying to make it their's or hold them accountable. The MAIN purpose of this thread was to find out if they would paint the headstock or not for me. I never got a clear answer from them and haven't had time to follow up with them during business hours. I thought this board might have some helpful info regarding something like that.

I hope this thread has never been misread as me saying it's ernie ball's problem. Its totally MF's mistake and the sole responsibility is with them. the secondary purpose of the thread, or what it turned into rather... was to relay to ernie ball and other's who might purchase from them what they were doing as nothing more than a FYI.

I know what their return policy is... and yes this thread could go on forever, but bottomline, I was just trying to figure out if Ernie Ball painted the headstocks if you sent your guitar to them.

Have you had work done by her at all, or know if anyone on this forum has? I checked out the site... looks like she does a great job.

I was referred to her on the ESP forum, and she was going to do some stuff to my LTD for about $250 :)

The definite answer is no. Ernie Ball won't paint your headstock.
I'm sorry man. I considered buying my JP from MF but they didn't match headstock and they didn't offer piezo and I needed my guitar to be perfect.
If you decide that you can't settle for anything less than the exact guitar you want then return it. If it's still less than 45 days since they shipped it you should be able to get a full refund.

On the other hand, as many people have noted. Your guitar is awesome. My JP6 has a Matching Headstock but of all the bonuses on my guitar its my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, I love it but if I had to choose between Matching Headstock, Mystic Dream, and Piezo I'd remove the MH to save money. Natty headstocks are actually pretty cool IMO.

You also have the option of custom painting. I don't know anything about that but you can check out the people this forum recommends.

But if you're just looking to find out whether or not EB will paint it for you again the answer is no.

PS: I apologize for any people who might have lashed out at you over a misunderstanding of your purpose here. Every so often we get bad apples whining about EB guitars for no reason.

And when people kick our Balls, we tend to get annoyed. :D

Yeah. Natural headstocks are cool.

Also, we do get a the occasional bad apple in here making unreasonable complaints and demands. Most of us are fiercely loyal to this company, and maybe we're too quick to take up arms to defend and the people who comprise it.

I ordered my EBMM Axis from MF. Now I hoping it comes with a plain unpainted headstock. I think those look better.

But, as I can get a flame top off eBay for half the price, if it comes with anything other than a awesome QUILT top, I'll return it.

MF really should update the EBMM (probaly offer manufactors as well) selection webform to have little check boxes you click to customize your order.

Thank you my friend, for the informative post. I definitely had no intention to bash EB guitars. They are the the top eschelon of guitar manufacturing to me. This would be my third petrucci... all of them have been in the mystic dream finish. I got my first one it was the base model with matching headstock.... sold it, then I had the mystic dream loaded with all options, traded it, and now I have this one with no matching headstock. I think I just got used to having that option. I realize now and regret ever selling any of my petrucci's. I've gone through so many guitars from other manufacturer's... (petrucci pre-ernie ball company anyone??? :)) thinking they were going to be THE guitar. But as I have found out, THEY WEREN'T. They all lacked something, and the most frustrating being: going of tune with floyd-type trems and the hassle of setting those up. I do plan to purchase more EB's, most likely a steve morse (the older black one). I just haven't found a better guitar than these. ;)
