BP or others, can you tell me where you got the guitar wall hangers in the 'one off room' in SLO? They were metal, had straight arms, and swivled. I'd like to get a few for my music room.

I've tried most of the other hangers that I could find from various music stores, but they all have arms that are shaped like hooks - which doesn't work with my JP. The locking tuner screws make the headstock too 'thick' and the guitar doesn't sit right.

Any thoughts?

Ok - thanks BP. I figured it was at least worth asking. Back to the drawing board!

I have these rubber coated forked hooks that I got from Home Depot that work really well. They screw into a wall stud, and I believe are rated at 150 lbs. I'll try to remember to take a picture of one and post it.

I have a triple Hercules stand with those same headstock holders and they work perfectly, even with a JP.

So I would definitely recommend them.

Colin, I have seen them, but never in person. Every website seems to have those same drawings - no real photos. The drawings just make them look a bit weak to me. I don't even know if they are metal or plastic. Have you used them?

Mike
I plan on getting one, I'll let you know. I have hercules stands and they are very good.

That's another idea, Norm. I hadn't thought about mounting them that way - my other ones are all vertical. I'll give it some thought! Thanks!

Thanks for the ideas everyone - that helps a bunch.

Colin, let me know what you think of the Hercules hanger when you get it. I do like the thought of 'locking' the guitar in the holder.

That looks fab!!

But watch out with those foam covers tho, I've heard of certain types of those things "sweating" and damaging the finish on the neck/headstock...

Maybe some fine Chinese silk covers for the forks?

This worries me a bit too - I have heard that many of the coatings and cushions used can damage nitro finishes. Unfortunately, I still have a couple of guitars with nitro.

The other thing about the home depot hangers is that I'd have to tilt them to handle guitars with uneven headstocks - otherwise they wouldn't hang straight. Not a big deal really...

Yeah, I noticed that too. I usually keep my SR in the case, and just put those wall hangers in to keep my beater Ibanez off the floor and out of the way. It has an even headstock, and when I put the SR in there it was askew.

I'll get the make and model numbers of the hangers I have on my wall. I got tired of:
Guitars getting dusty
Worring about the guitars falling
Having to be careful putting them on and taking them off
Marks in the finish from the stress points
Them being so visible in the event of a breakin

So now I just keep them in the cases until a photo op arises. Dang they are safe and clean there.
