Jon, I haven't talked to you direct yet, so in the voice of Uncle Leo "Hello." Do you have any suggestions for getting rid of many swirl marks and light scratches in an MM finish. My 92 SR needs a bit of love, and I have three days off this weekend. Thanks for any advice.

I would take it to a professional. You can make the finish worse if you try and buff it yourself. I have heard of, but never tried a kit by Mcguiers(sp). I do not know anyone who has tried it. Maybe someone here can help. But I would really not recommend DIY buffing.

I have the Meguires kit & have used the polish (swirl remover).
Similar to the car product, it will only remove light scratches in the
clear coat. It's an extremely mild abrasive and was safe to use w/a
buffing wheel (for the best results).

Be carefull & work slowly on a small area at a time. I'm not sure
how much clear is on these basses & frequent polishing is never
a good idea.

B/C light scratches always seem come back, especially noticable
on my black Sterling, I've since decided to let them stay (adds character) :)
