Is there any reason a brand-new bongo from the store should need the neck shimmed? Both my SR5 and my Bongo5HH were slightly off on factory specs from the store but it was easy to get them back in to spec. My buddy's guitar tech says his new Bongo needs to be shimmed to get the action lower. I think he is trying to get even lower height string/fret than the EB 3/32 specs. Have you ran into this before?

Sure...I use shims all the time. It is not uncommon. If you want the action lower and the saddles are bottoming out, add a shim. For some reason people freak out if they need to use a shim. Shims are our friends. :D

Jon,

This thread needs a-closin' while our audience is still shimpathetic. :D

This is not a shimulation!

I thought a "shim" was a combination of a "she" and a "him." Get it?? Shim. Or herm (her/him). :D

I guess that's not politically correct these days...
