Derek and/or other EBMM type peoples:

I'd really like to change the look of at least one of my Stingray 5s. I want it to look a bit more like a 4 string version. I'm thinking I could get a custom oval pickguard made, but what about the control plate? Will a standard 4 string Stingray control plate fit a Stingray 5?

Have you guys ever done anything like this?

thanks

I'd like to get my teal StingRay5 to look that way also. My black one is all black, so it really doesn't matter. I could never understand why they when with that big ugly pickguard for the StingRay5.

Guys,

This question has come up a few times over the years,so you are not alone. The SR5
was designed to be different than the Stingray
simply because we wanted to offer something new and not a rehash an old favorite with 1
more string. We added a three way switch to enable more versatility in sound and new pickguard shape to set it apart. Consequently
we do not offer an oval pickguard to replace theSR5 guard. The Stingray control plate does not cover the control route on the SR5 body.

If you were to make an oval guard you would still see the factory screw holes left by the SR5 guard, not to mention getting a custom made control plate to house the preamp section.
