Doh - my mistake georgestrings. She's a 2 band active with compensated nut. I had to go look (had to find her first). I think I'll play her tonight. :)

thanks for making me look......tbone

I'm no expert by any means, just sharing what I've picked up along the way since getting into these great "bang for the buck" basses... AFAIK, the SUBs used the compendated nut in '06 only - their last year of production... I've played my SUB5 enough to wear thru the neck finish a little around the 3rd fret - it's been a great instrument to me...

I have owned 14 subs over the years, they are great instruments. To help with the knobs not having a detent, I loosen the set screw and re position so the set screw is in the center. This helps to give me a visual for cut and boost.

Great tip but all my ebmms came with the screw faving up when full on. So i just dial it a bit back on the treble and leave bass full boost.

I actually got the SUB5 first, looking for a cost effective backup for a SR5 HH I had at the time - the SR5 HH has since been replaced with a Sterling 5 HS, but the SUB5 remains... After that, I started the hunt for a SUB Sterling in great condition, and found mine - then, it was only a matter of time before I rounded them out with the black SUB bass... I've actually played guitar far longer than I have bass - and could see a SUB guitar in my future - just to flesh out my SUB collection, lol...

The SUB5 has been a real workhorse, and has seen quite a few gigs - it was definitely a great purchase... I hope your SUBs work out as well for you as mine have for me...

The SUB guitars never really appealed to me because I have a Floyd Rose Classic Strat that always did everything I needed it to. Since I tried this SUB 1 it has replaced my strat as my performing and recording guitar completely.

Yeah, bass is my primary instrument($$$ maker), but I still play guitar a fair amount - I still have a Les Paul, an MIJ Squier Strat, and *a few* acoustics - but have been eyeing a SUB guitar, just because, hahaha!!!
