Is the color leopard skin? J/K Gotta love all these sexual inuendos we can make up on this forum.

Seriously, on my Luke's g-string I'll be fretting it or bending it while playing unplugged and I'll hear the g-string sound like it's fluttering ala using the tremolo. The tremolo is not touching anything and the guitar is perfectly in tune. No other string seems to do that. Anybody ever experience this? What could be some causes? What gives? Thanks

Glock -----Ithink what you're hearing is called trem flutter--and on the Luke it is very pronounced because the Luke trem is set up "light" and only uses 2 springs,is completely floating and is set up with 9-42. I personally happen to like the sound of trem flutter(listen to Jeff Beck)-----but there are ways to reduce it---aka adding a third spring or un-floating your trem by setting it on the body----but if your goin for authentic Luke tone-----ya gotta have the flutter!!!!!!:D

I think Jon was right because I do also hear a ping noise coming from a few strings every now and then. I'm assuming it's getting caught on the nut. I guess I'll put graphite on the nut for my next string change.

Paul, I love the tremolo flutter and do it all the time w/ the bar. What I was refering to was the g-string only sounding like that when I picked it and was not applying any pressure to the trem.

Thanks everyone

I don't mind the ping sounds, just fluttery sound from the one g-string w/o doing anything but picking it. After playing w/ the tremolo and stretching it it is no longer there.

My new Luke (w/piezo) came setup flush on the body. I forget how many springs are being used though. Is this because of the piezo? Can I adjust it to float, or is it not recommended for the piezo equipped model?

I just got the Toto 25th Anniversary DVD. I've checked out some of it, and Lukather was just awesome. He's playing a black sparkle Luke, and for acoustic tunes he's playing an Ovation (I think). Does Lukather use the piezo equipped Luke's very much, or does he prefer using an acoustic? I never really see him playing the piezo equipped guitars. Also recommended, the "Carton & Lukather: Live in Paris" DVD is great.
