Hey guys,

I need a DI Box to get my piezosignal into the mixer without hum and connecting issues.
Which DI should I take for this?
Does it matter if it´s active or passive?
Which input-impedance should it have?

Thanks!

In my experience you do need one to get rid of ground loop hum. I never paid attention to any of that stuff you mentioned. I've been using the $30 Whirlwind DI for years with no issues.

Impedance shouldn't be too much of an issue. The EBMM piezo equipped guitars have a pre-amp which negates a lot of the problems that can be associated with using an un-buffered piezo.

Passive boxes should be ok to use as well, but get one with a ground lift on it. Behringer do some low-cost ones, not tried them but they seem to be ok from what I've heard.

Thanks Jimmy, that´s what I wanted to hear.

I think I will a take a cheapo from Thomann (big german store).
They got some Boxes for around 10-20€ (15 - 25$).

Thans again guys!

Bierschenken,

I've been using a Whirlwind DI and also an Whirlwind IMP2 DI with my JP6 piezo. Both work fine.

Whirlwind seems pretty rare here in germany.
I think I´ll try the one from Thomann.

@Spud: Yes, they do a good job at Thomann. Their customer service is great and they are pretty fast with orders.
