Question re: neck "sealing"

From an earlier thread - On ordering my JPMM, I requested that EBMM "seal" the neck, having read that many pros have it done as it provides greater stability in climates with wide temperature and humidity fluctuations - and that is certainly the case where I live.

Can anyone reading this who has also had this done share any comments? In particular, I am curious to know if this sealing process changes the "feel" of the neck in any way, and if it eliminates the need for periodic oiling and waxing of the neck, which I believe I read about in the FAQ.

My JPM7 neck has the sealing...

It changed the feel a tiny bit. It made it a tad bit smoother if you can believe that. It doesn't make it feel like it has a finish on it as it soaks into the wood instead of covering the wood. Just like deck sealant.

I have noticed that as I play it, it's starting to feel more like it did before they sealed it. I think it's because when it is first done, there is a bit that is actually covering the wood like a finish which gets rubbed off from playing. I THINK. LOL

I am quite happy with it as I live in a very wierd ever changing climate.

I use Tung oil to protect and seal the wood.
It penetrates into the pores of the wood, and takes a few minutes to apply,
It hardens so there is no oily feel , and no noticable change in the feel of the wood.
This prevents stains dirt , moisture from getting into or out of the neck.
Without some type of penetratiing sealant applied, the wood will dry out loosing it's natural oils, become brittle and begin to deteriorate.

So spme type of sealeant is vital to the health of the guitar wood.
