Ok. The only EBMM dealer we have around here is a poor quality one. They take advantage of everyone that they can and try their best to cheat us people that know what we're talking about out of our money. Well, what i'm wanting and what my mom is wanting to order me for graduation is a StingRay 5 to my specifications. Here's the question. Is there anyway she can order it from EB directly or any website around here that could do that? I'm going ahead and finding out what she can do because i'm aware of how long it takes to make a bass. So, if anyone could help out, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Much love,

Andrew

You can certainly order whatever you desire from me, Andrew, or from Pete or Doug. As long as what you want is available, that is. Why don't you drop me an email and tell me what you're thinking about?

But no, you can't order directly from EB. But ordering from me (or one of the other guys here) is pretty much the same deal. You tell us what you want, we call the factory, they make it for you.

So, if anyone could help out, i'd greatly appreciate it.

I'd be glad to see what I can do for you, amigo.

Andrew....

There also are dealers specifically identified by EBMM as web retailers. The two that come to mind are Bass Central in Florida and BassNorthwest in, well, the northwest. There are a few others as well...all are listed at the bottom of the page when you go to the Dealer Locator and enter your zip.

I also found that every dealer I called was willing to ship. So pretty much, you can buy your bass from any EBMM dealer out there.

I mention this not to try to steer you away from doing business with the guys here, but rather to note that you might luck out and find exactly what you're looking for without having to wait so long for it. That's what happened to me.

I wanted a DG Bongo5 HHp, and according to EBMM literally NOBODY on the planet had one in stock. But I found out that Bass Central had one in the pipeline already, so I snagged it. Saved me at least two months of waiting.

I didn't save any money...everybody I called gave pretty much the same prices, within $50 or so on a $1500+ bass, which is not significant. The 2 month wait made all the difference.

It can pay to call around.

True, unless you're looking for a double humbucker Stingray 5 (he is).

Also, Pete is exactly right. Any EBMM dealer can help you, although I like to think not as nicely as we (the dealers on the board) can.

But is it not possible that some dealer has already ordered one that matches his specs, thereby shortcutting the order/wait...wait...wait...wait...wait... process?

(I confess I haven't kept up on the availability/production schedule of the new models, since I'm not in the market for one.)

I think Bovine's point was that there hasn't been a single one of those (2H SR5) produced just yet. If Dr. Stankface ordered a new one today from any dealer, it would probably be produced in the same batch as any that might be on order up until today.

I can't remember when they're going to start making them.. I'm not sure I ever knew, though. :D

Andrew, my good local buddy (well, my just a couple miles away good buddy).

Dont be so hard on Everything Musical. Kyle has cut me some of the best deals Ive ever gotten. The anti-everything musical camp here in Columbus, is IMO a bit out of control. Sure theyve taken some people, but theyve saved me dough many times.

As far as ordering a new bass, Jack will treat you well. Hes a good fella, and be sure he will make this purchase a pleasure.

Am I to understand that production on the two pickup models has not yet begun or there are just none completed yet?

Not yet begun unless things have changed in the last two weeks - my word on these issues should never be taken as gospel.

Or, well, my word on anything, really.

Thanks, Jon. I ordered a two pickup Sterling two weeks ago, so hopefully it'll fall within the 12-14 week window. Guess I'll just have to keep bangin' on the Bongo.
