"OLP", I believe, stands for "Officially Licensed Product". All design details are approved and licensed by Ernie Ball. These instruments are made in China.

As to difference in sound and quality....????

For starters, OLP are passive. I've read some decent reviews about OLP as a beginner's bass, but they're nothing like a Musicman other than in appearance.

PS. Rod, you get around, don't you? :-)

You're one to talk, Mark. I see you slumming at That Other Place.

Loved your comment about rap, by the way!
