I've been gassin' for a Music Man and I thought I might sell off my Aerodyne Jazz bass for a nice Sub. Can any one give me an opinion on these instruments? Are they good? Do they have the same electronics as the big boys(stingray and sterling)?

I've tried the search button and I can't come up with any info.
thanks

SUBs are great instrument for the price. There are lots of differences:
- Textured finishes (really tough to chip)
- Black painted necks and headstocks
- Rosewood fingerboard only I bleeb
- Electronics. The SUB SR passive has a treble cut (ie. the traditional tone knob) and a bass cut, whereas the SUB SR active has boost as well, but no center détente. The SUB Sterling has an active 3EQ

More info at:

SUB Sterling: http://www.ernieball.com/mmonline/specs/instruments_substerling.html

Great basses, really. I'm fittin' to add a SUB to my line-up one day.

I own both ...

..sting ray 5s, and a SUB 5 . the pre-amp on the SUB 5 does not equal the pre-amp of the sting ray 5s. they both share the same pickup and play equally well. but the sting rays just have that lil extra umph.

the SUB is a fine instrument indeed. WAY better than that aerodyne. i love mine. get the SUB, you won't be sorry!

You'd be doing yourself a major favor skipping a step and getting a ray or a sterling... used is about the same price as asub sometimes.... Definatly worth it.

I'm about to order a S.U.B. fretless from Mr. Bovine of Host as soon as I figure out what happened to my downpayment money...

But 'Rays and Sterlings go for around $800 while the SUBs on the 'Bay that actually sell end up at around $350 or $400.

Get a SUB

Get the SUB - the're Great! I have a black SUB and I put a white Pickguard on it - it looks awesome. Plus the sound of the SUB is really cool. You won't regret it.

I note about your Fe--der Bass, you're lucky. The quality of F-r basses are in the toilet (they were never very good to begin with). But the model you have is made in Japan, which tend to be good.
