Hi all, I am new to the forum, just brought a used 2002 Axis, my first non-floating Floyd, I have couple questions:

1. I know the trem suppose to sit flush on the body, but does it suppose to "hit" the body when it return?

2. How many springs does it need with 9s string? now it has 3 and it is stiff.

Thank you all.

My Axis has two springs with 9s, and it's just right. I'd probably take out the middle one and see how it feels.

Can you clarify what you mean by "hit?" It should come to rest on the body, but it shouldn't fly back hard and whack it. If it does, that's probably another sign that you've got one too many springs.

Maybe a photo of how it's sitting on the body might help diagnose.

Welcome to the club!

My Axis has 9s with 2 springs. See what happens when you just use two. The only time I've ever had the trem hit the body was by accidentally letting go when depressed. Not sure what you mean by hit the body when it returns.
