Questions for Mesa owners/fans...

Everybody has their gear grudge, mine's with Fender and Marshall. Any Marshall I've ever played irritated me within seconds. I tried out a 'nice' stack at GC with my JP and the noise it was creating between notes even at low volumes made me want to put my foot through it. I can deal with a little hiss, but this sounded like I took the cable out of the guitar, it had that annoying EHHHHHHHRHHRHHRHRHRHHHRHRR to it, and I'm trying to get away from that with my Randall. I want to buy an amp to help with that and not have to worry about buying other gear to suppress to sludge so I can get to the tone. Plus I don't like the way they look either, which I guess isn't something that really matters to many people, but when I hate the sound of the gear and and the looks of it, its not even a possibility. I do like the looks of the Hendrix they just released, I'll give them that, but thats it. Another big factor with Marshall is no one I like uses them exclusively, and those that do I don't like or can't stand [i.e. Zakk Wylde, Stephen Carpenter, Daron Malakian, etc].

Of course this is all my opinion, so please take no offense, and thanks for the suggestion.

How will this information be of use to Jimothy JP7? My guess is that most people around here are not professional musicians in the sense that music is their primary income.

I bought a Dual Rectifier Roadster 2x12 back in December and I haven't looked back since. It's been great in the studio and in the various gigs that I have had. Just a wonderful combo with a ton of bottom end and a nice sound set to it. My previous amp was the Stiletto Ace combo which was also a nice amp....I just wanted a bit more gain out of it and a few more channels. With the Roadster, I got it all and then some more.

Amp shopping days are over for me for some time.

Thats how I felt with the Stilletto as well, I plugged it and turned everything to where I like it normally, hit a few power chords and it felt like something was missing. I wish there was a Mesa store around here somewhere, or an Amp Center haha, but thanks for that. In Mesa, for me its betweeen the Road King, the Roadster and either an F100 or an F50. I wish Mesa 2x12's weren't 75% the price of a 4x12, kind of makes that decision just as hard as choosing the head.

I use a Mesa Triple Rectifier through 2 Marshall 4x12 cabinets and have no problems with the B string being heard. I've owned a few different amps (Marshall, Hiwatt, Legend) and IMO the Mesa sounds the best to me (of course if that ever changes, I'll have to change my screen name )

I bought a Mesa Rect-O-Verb (single rectifier) almost a year ago now and it was worth every penny. I've played on loads of other amps since and every time I wish I were playing my Mesa.

It's incredibly versatile - great cleans, huge range of distortion all the way from warm blues tones through to the modern sound. Its also built like a tank and hasn't let me down once (unlike all the fender amps I’ve owned ).

As PBGas said - Amp shopping days are over for me for some time.

Ok, I'm going to say HIWATT, because that's what I say in all of these threads

And the difference between a professional and an amateur (IMHO) is the fact that a pro gets paid for what they do. Talent is something different.
