Hello Ladies and Gents,

I'm about to break my EBMM cherry and I'll probably be putting in an order through my dealer in the next week or so here. I'm feeling pretty set on an Sterling HH. I just have a few questions I hoped you guys could answer before I go to my dealer to put in my order. I'm really not sure about the finish I want. This is driving me absolutely crazy. I've looked over the finishes on the actual EBMM site as well as in the forum here and I have about five that I love. They are Trans Teal, Honey Burst, Radiance Red, Trans Orange, and Black Cherry Burst. At this point I'm mostly leaning towards the Black Cherry Burst but that seems to change every day. I can't really tell from the pics on the forum here but in the lighter red part of the Black Cherry Burst finish, can you see the wood grain through on a Music man Bass? I know in the pic of the Axis on the color chart, you can really see the wood grain but it didn't seem to show in the forum pic there on the Ray. The second question that I have is, does the Black Cherry Burst have an option for matching headstock? It seems to me that most companies don't do a matching headstock for burst finishes so I was wondering? One more question, can I order simply a black headstock instead of matching?

Any answers you guys can provide to these would be greatly appreciated. Oh, one more thing, just a comment pretty much. I thought the Instrument builder option on the EBMM site was absolutely brilliant but for maybe even a couple years now it hasn't been updated and only a little over half of the combinations are there. That thing would be supremely helpful if fully functional. I also found it a little disappointing that the site (except for the forum) doesn't even acknowledge that the HH Rays and Sterlings exist. Someone should draw on the EB web page developper's face while he's sleeping... I do love the basses though, maybe that's where all the focus goes. Haha. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Right on, thank you for the very quick reply! Right after posting this I saw pics of someone's new Black Cherry Burst with matching headstock and that locked it for me. One more question though. Is there any way I can request black knobs instead of silver or would I have to buy those somewhere else? I see that his has black knobs but I figured it may be only because they are on a black pickguard and the Sterling 4 wouldn't have pickguard all the way down there. If I can't order black knobs from the factory, where is a good place to buy them? I want this new bass to look as beautifully ominous as possible and the chrome knobs don't really do it for me.

Hi Big Poppa,

Thanks for the welcome, much appreciated. To answer your question, I am a hockey fan but didn't have a chance to watch a single Olympic game. We didn't do very well though. From what I hear it was too many superstar do it all themself type players and not enough of the needed "play maker" types to have them playing as a team. That doesn't really surprise me though.

Best,

Don't know what you're talking about BP, Canada won more hockey games than the USA! And how about those Canadian women? Nyah nyah!

Me = :D too! If Canada couldn't win, it had to be Sweden, seeing as my Toronto Maple Leafs' captain and goalkeeper play on that team.
