I just lowered the saddle for the G slightly - much improved.

Sounds like we have happy, and satisfied MM players again. Life is good!

I would figure I was blessed were it not for knowing EB QC. My SR 5 has not one problem.

I can wait for one, but doubt I will see one. The faq page should tell one how to set the bass up. I am sure EB never sent one out with a quiet G string.

Only G string problem I ever had was on a Fender on the 5th fret. Fixed that too by winding the string the opposite way on the tuning peg.

Got to be something other than the bass when the G string is quiet.

I think I have posted about this before, but I will say it again. The same coils that wrap around the E A D string pole pieces also wrap around the G string pole piece. So that would seem to eliminate the possibility of the pickup being the problem. The G string is smaller than the rest. Less mass=less sound. Its the same reason we guitarists debate the merits of .009 string sets with .010 sets. Raise the pickup and your problem will be solved. :D

" less mass = less sound" Ernie revolutionized the string market with his Slinkys way back when so maybe they could do the opposite and make a bass string set with one HONKIN big G string. I know that I often go up the neck and avoid the G string for that very reason. Might change the way we play bass.

Maybe it's been said .. I would have read every post , but my eyes are tired ,

I agree with the mid thing , when you boost the mids you get more sound out of your G

but also as said the pickup's eight ... I have my pick up in a somewhat 30° angle.. under my E it's low , and higher under the G ... it has regulate ( sorry Bov if my tense is wrong , I'm french ..and tired ..and lil drunk ) the volume ..or something like that ... my E and G sound about as loud... well I like it that way anyway
