Hello all

Long time reader, first time poster!

I am in the market for an EBMM Axis. I bought a Sub last year off eBay and have pretty much fallen in love with all things MM and have spent many an evening browsing these forums and feeling pretty jealous at the mutitude of stunning guitars you all play :( . So I having finally tracked a couple of Axis', a Luke and a Silohuette to have a play on (all the guitar stores in Birmingham UK seem to class themselves as EBMM stockists but only one store actually has some in stock).

Anyway, getting to the point, after playing an Axis Sport i was just totally besotted with the neck...it was perfect! So my mind is made up. My only question is what colour to go with. I am choosing between natural, translucent or pacific blue burst or gold but my question is, i have seen what seems to be 2 styles of quilted top, one is (and excuse my ignorance around guitar finishes as i have never had anything other than solid colours) like "tiger" stripes and the other seems more like a watery effect (yes i know i sound stoopid). Anyway, what is the difference?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

The watery / cloud like figuring is called quilted.
The flame is called flame and sometimes curly.
The Pac Blueburst on a quilt is stunning!!

Welcome Phrat!

Sounds like you can't go wrong with any of those choices ... the Axis is a killer guitar.

The tops have always been an option- you can order a standard top in which case you get the luck of the draw (usually very nice), or you can pay extra for a "premium" (upgraded) top. If you do this then you get to specify whether you want quilt or flame.

Hey bro, I would agree with you, but I don't know what besotten means. Is that even cromulent?

As for colors, I have fallen in love with the Pacific Blue Bursts I've seen on this site, just gorgeous.

I know BP and the crew are redoing the website, so hopefully when that is done, you have a better way to view the colors with the guitar builder. Looking around here is a good way too.

p.s. Axis is the way to go. well done, my young apprentice.

Hi Phrat

If you haven't got a big colour/top preferance you should go with whichever guitar plays and feels best to you, they all vary by small degrees.

If you can't find what you want in Birmingham and you are on the North side you could always zoom up to Ashbourne and check out Guitars for You. He always has some Axis Supersports in, ring before you travel though as he's only open 3 days a week.
