Qulited tops on MM basses?

Okay I know the 20th anniv. ltds made in 96 had quilted maple tops, but is that an available order option. I talked to a guy recently and he said it was expensive but you could order quilted tops on MM basses. Just curious if he was BSing me.

He may think this is true since some of the six strings have that option. But I don't believe you can order 'em this way. I wish you could b/c I would like to have a red one with quilted top. Then again... there's a lot of different Stingray options I dream up.
