not a "stringed thing" player but a musician of great talent and worth to our planet is gone:

Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2's Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

all the best to his family.

He will definitely be missed, what an incredible performer. I always liked the fact that he seemed to have a little bit of rock star in him:rolleyes:

20+ years ago he signed an album for me to give to my parents when I ran into him in a Tower Records store on Columbus in San Francisco. A gracious man, though I'm not sure he understood my english...

He will be missed.

Luciano was one of the greats!

An outstanding performer in every sense of the word!

A loss not just to the opera world, but to music in general.

So long, Luciano! We'll miss you!

I was hoping to get the opportunity to be able to see him.
I'm really regretting not seeing him when the 3 Tenors came around years ago.
It will be a long time before someone in opera will achieve his magnitude.
