OKay I just watched some news coverage and it was full of the last ten years and his struggles and trials. I get to control this.....He was a gifted artist for many years. Lets focus on the art and the loss.

I am not being insensitive to some of the other stuff but he was never convicted of any of it.

The man is gone.

I talked to Luke already and it was very strange as he played on all of the big albums....All of thriller and he played bass and all the guitars except for the solo on Beat it.

An amazing performer...I still like "Rock with You"...used to hear it during summers on the jukebox all the time at the park my Dad and Uncle owned when I was a kid. A true one of a kind...R.I.P.

Huge talent lost. Thriller one of top 10 albums of all time.
Cardiac arrest? He must have had more health issues than any of us would know.

Interesting to know about Luke....didn't realize he played on MJ's studio stuff.

OK this is very sad, I think MJ wasted alot of years a the end trying to be something he could not.

I grew up on the Jackson 5 and I love Motown. MJ had all the talent in the world, plus we share a common thread a birthday I was born on August 29th just like MJ, though he was 2 years older than I am.

Many may not have liked his music but I do, and Thriller is one of the best albums ever, plus set off the MTV explosion and remember Luke is all over that album, plus the EVH solo.

Sad when someone goes before they should, puts a note on enjoy life while its in front of you, RIP MJ.

Our culture has just changed in such a huge way... this is like Elvis in 77... It's really sad. His self esteem issues and health problems have robbed him, and us of more music for too long, and now for good. I for one am really sad and I don't know about any of that other stuff in courts and whatnot... I just know a great talent has been lost.. the kind of talent that makes other people want to take up singing, dancing, whatever... Fortunately the rest of his great music lives and people will continue to be inspired for decades and I hope that is his legacy, and the scandals are things we use to learn how to prevent these things in our music culture in the future.

He played on several songs on the Thriller album.. both bass and guitars.. David Paich, Steve Porcarro (who wrote Human Nature), Greg Phillanganes, and Jeff Porcarro all played on a great deal of that album... David Hungate may have too but I don't immediately recall.

Luke is the reason EVH played the solo on Beat It. They were friends and the rest is history... very good history.

Big Loss. At his peak he was an amazing performer.
Though he may have sorted himself out with that mammoth 50 dates at the 02, wasnt to be though clearly.

Crazy thing! I must admit, hearing the intro riff on "Beat It" for the first time as a kid is the reason I wanted to play guitar!

I'm with you. The man was straight up talented.

you know the media has been saying that he took the promoters money for the 02 shows and wasnt doing anything....We were working with his new band and the guitarist was using a 25th for beat it and all of that era stuff......you cannot believe everything in the media
