A major talent, taken at still a young age, it's sad, I feel for his family and loved one.

I was watching the weather before I left for work and was scanning the channels and VH1 was playing all of his video's. I saw my favorite song, "Dirty Diana" with Steve Stevens playing guitar, just the energy and the music, truly awesome.

I grew up during the Jackson 5 era like Norm and many others, I remember MJ as a young performer he was gifted. I remember his solo efforts and when it was his time to shine, the good and the bad, the music always spoke for itself.

Rest in peace MJ.

Considering myself as someone, who rather has a considerable distance/disliking towards most of the pop music, I would have to admit, that Michael Jackson was an extremely talented musician and performer.

May he rest in peace (or sing in the Coir of Eden, for that matter), may his sins be forgiven.

We're losing so many performers this week.

R.I.P. Michael, Farrah, and Ed.

It's like that saying that "it comes in threes". We seem to loose a popular public figure of some type (musician, actor, politician) in groups of three.

Strictly in terms of his music and talent, this is a sad loss.

I still remember the moment back in 1982 (or was it '83?), when I first listened to "Thriller" and the guitar solo on "Beat it" and I was totally blown away!
Must have been the first time in music history that such a cooperation took place where some kick-ass rock dude guest-starred on a pop album.

I would like to remember all the great pieces of art that MJ created like THRILLER (Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller), BAD (Dirty Diana, Man in the Mirror, Bad), DANGEROUS (Remember the Time, Black or White, Heal the World) and also what an absolutely OUTSTANDING performer that man was!

I have never been a real fan of MJ, but I have always admired his professionalism, his dedication and his outstanding abilities. He was a great singer, songwriter and dancer all rolled into one, a true genius and a gifted individual who always had a tragic side to him.

May he rest in peace!

I thought Dirty Diana was Jennifer Batten, was Steve Stevens on the song but not on the video? All I remember was THAT hair!

Rob - Steve Stevens did have bigger hair than Jennifer Batten back then and probably wore more makeup; that was him in the Dirty Diana video but she handled the parts on his tour.

What a week - Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, one of the guys from the late 60s/early 70s band The Seeds (You're Pushing Too Hard), and a local Louisville musician named Tim Kreckle (he also wrote songs for some of the more recent country acts).

Micheal Jackson is a real shocker as all the others were known to be in poor health. RIP to all.:(

Farah Fawcett died and went straight to Heaven.

When she arrived she was met (appropriately for an Angel!) by God himself who said due to the good life she had led she could have 1 wish.

After some thought, Farah advised God that her wish was "for all children on earth to be safe".

Michael Jackson died a few minutes later.

Too soon?

I rememberI must have been around 8 years old and listening to Black or White for the first time and watching Moonwalker on the TV and thinking MJ was the coolest.

4 years later I got my first CD player (sony walkman) and the first CD I bought was History, I still have the CD to this day.

What a tremendous man, and yes he had done a few foolish things in his life but he didn't deserve 99.9% of the mud that was slung at him.

I had 2 tickets to see him twice, once at the beginning of the tour and once near the end (at the 02) I am absolutely gutted that I will never get to see him live.

RIP Michael, what a tremendous loss.
