Just watched the Black & White video and I never knew that Culkin used a pink EVH at the beginning. Awesome.
Is there a story behind that BP??

Ye I was bad mouthin Macauley Culkin when he opened that guitar case.
It is one of the guitars that I want so badly and it was pristine!!! (obviously it was like 1991 lol)

All makes sense now... Home Alone was about stealing his Ernie Ball.

That video came out when the EVH model was new(ish) and when EVH himself, was still a big deal. It was my opinion when I saw the world premier back then that they used the EVH because, at the time, it was the latest and greatest - just like the video was supposed to be.

I won't post the link to the video here because it predominately features a giant add for another company in the background, but I'm sure a search of on Google or YouTube will locate it. There is a very cool tribute performance by Vai and Timmons at the Meinl Guitar Festival.

One thing I thought was rather sad was Patrick Woodroffe, the lighting Director/designer for the planned UK gigs, being interviewed on the radio the day after he died.

He said that Jackson had been quite reserved in the rehearsals for the shows up until the rehearsal the day before he died when he apparently 'came alive' and was singing and dancing like he used to. Patrick said that people were looking at each other and smiling as if to say, 'Oh yes, here we go, this is going to work'.

Sadly not the case.....

All i'm saying is thank god Vai wasn't around for the Thriller album...

:D

Shame Timmons took a back seat during that performance.

I remember when I was a kid, before everyone had cable and access to MTV, there was a program called Friday Night Videos on after 11:00pm.

I specifically remember being pissed at M.J. because he won best video of the year, and I thought it should have went to Billy Joel for the "Pressure" video (I still think is one of the coolest videos made).

I got over my anger over that event pretty quickly, once I heard the guitar solo in "Beat It".

The unfortunate thing about M.J. is that Thriller was as successful as it was. It was an impossible album to top. He tried to recapture the magic of Thriller with Bad, but nothing would ever compare. The stars can only align like that once.

It's sort of like when you throw a party, and it is the best party ever. I mean epic. All the right people show up, everybody has fun, everybody gets laid, nobody gets in a fight, and people talk about it for months. It was so great, that you throw another party. You invite all the same people, buy the same beer, play the same music, but it just isn't the same. It will never be as good as the party everyone remembers from before.

Anyway, regardless of what he became, in that time period he was the greatest at what he did. Sadly, it seems like it's the people that posess true genius are cursed with debilitating demons that they struggle with. Howard Hughes comes to mind.

I will always remember the music of M.J. from Thriller with fond memories of the times that they represent.

BP talked about working with the guitar player for the shows of MJ.
Just saw the last rehearsal video and the female guitar player is Orianthi.
My question is: Was there a second guitar player or was she supposed to play the 25th anniversary?? I know she´s working with Paul´s Guitars:rolleyes:

She is an amazing player. I hope they release the full rehearsal video once.

Maybe BP could answer my question

I saw a quick clip on the news last night which only showed the guitar player for an instant. Thought Jennifer Batten was back but I guess not.
