A lot of threads about getting crazy low action, so I just wanted to say I've raised the action on all my basses, 1,5 turns of each screw and while it does mean I have to press down a little further, it also means my tone is better than ever plus my playing is cleaner:)
Relief is still the same, businesscard between fret 6 and string.

That's all

Nothing wrong with higher action if it suits your playing style. I totally agree the tone gets a lot better, sustain etc all improved. You will need to reset your intonation and usually pull the saddles back some to compensate.

ive been guilty of doing this very thing from time to time. though i have to say..... ive found that if you raise it too much, u miss out on some of the classic ebmm growl. its ok to let those strings / frets do the grind if you have the luxury of being able to run through a few tubes, into a yellow and black speaker. ive also been really learning to lighten up on the right hand (if you know what i mean), and have greatly improved tone, and namm chops to show for it. guess ill have to wait till next year for all that to pay off.

Well, I have been spinning that lady Antebellum cd rather heavily, dig those bass chords onPerfect World, Mr Young obviously knows his sh*t:)

But no, the reason I did this was because I got a tip taking a... wait for it... LESSON:D

Practicing thru headphones will make me raise the action.

I find it hard to do chords around the 12th fret if my action is set to factory. I like it a tad lower.

I know there's no money up the neck but I'm a graduate of the Big Poppa play all over the fretboard school of bassing.
