Has anyone here been lucky enough to play what could be considered a 'rare' EBMM?

About 15 years ago, I went into a music shop in West London called Ealing Music, where I ended up working for a few months whilst still at school. They were one of the first shops in the UK to really 'get' what EBMM guitars were all about and always had at least one in stock. The rarity they had, which I was lucky enough to play and which was the first EBMM I tried, was one of the Silhouettes with the Ernie Ball Eagle painted on it! I can't remember for the life of me which colour it was though, I'm sure it was either Pink or Blue.

Sadly, the guitar was lost in a fire. :(

I've seen pictures of those Eagle Silhouettes - big line drawing of an Eagle on a blue Sil with a clear plastic pick-guard and a Schaller bridge... Nice looking guitars...

I've always wanted to try one of the early "wide fretboard" Silhouettes. When the Sil. was first introduced, you could get it with one of two different neck profiles. The wide profile was retired early in the production history, but I've seen pictures of a couple and I'd like to try one...

I'd also like to get my grubby paws on an early Axis with a Rosewood fretboard. There weren't many produced, but they're out there - Floyd, three-way, Vol.-only, with Rosewood - too cool! ;)

Yep, they had Kahler brdiges and EMG pickups IIRC.
The only Ernie Ball Music Man guitar produced with EMGs that I'm aware of is the Luke. The Eagle Silhouettes I've seen pictured had the first generation hardware, which included Schaller pickups and tremolo.

Another "rare" EBMM I'd love to try out is the Axis EX - there's a gorgeous blue quilt example on Ebay right now...

Well, twas a long time ago and I was a mere teenager.

I'm sure that Axis EX belongs to a fellow forumite. Is it the one in the UK that you're talking about?

Hi guys, yep that blue Axis EX on ebay is mine and is currently in the UK. :D

I've just relisted it as I ran into some corporate American BS with another guitar company (see my other recent thread!).

If any of you guys are interested in it, drop me a line.

Cheers
Steven

Yeah, it seems everything on Ebay is incredibly rare

Not to get off of the EBMM guitar topic too far but the best Ebay auction I ever saw was titled "I Will Kick Your Ass !!" The winner was entitled to an butt kicking by the seller at some future date :D
