Any idea what intonation would be like when there are no actual saddles? I find this setup so bizarre!!!!

did you ever see a PRS stoptail guitar? they use the same system.
if the guitar is setup well, you´ll have no problems with intonation.

I must admit to not liking the idea of a fixed intonation either.
If I was to build a guitar I would go for individual saddle adjustments.
