Those are 100% definitely not the original pups, as well as that guitar has been routed out to fit the replacement bridge pickup. I just noticed this now looking at the first photo again. Check out the bridge pickup route! Its routed square on the body for the pickup legs and not a triangle like a stock Axis is to accommodate DiMarzio's. I say stay away, there are tons of other used Axis guitars out there for sale unless this guy gives you a substantial price drop. Big part of the magic of the Axis is the neck and pups. People won't even touch a used Axis if it doesn't come with original pickups, add to that the fact the body has been routed...I dunno, just beware thats all.

After having fallen in love with Music man guitar and my John Petrucci 6, I´m going to buy a second hand axis. But i have a couple of doubts. First of all, I think the previous owner changes the pickups... I've never found an axis with black pickups like these:

Another strange thing... or so it seemed to me, is the way the locking nut is set in his place:

I do not know if you can see, but it's like missing more wood under the nut.

Can someone helpme with these?

P.D. as always, Sorry for my English.

I noticed of the route when i pull the pickups to see if they where the originals. but that is well done, by a professional for sure. I didn´t realize until i had the pickup totaly uninstaled.

So I clean it, i´ve polished the frets, adjust the trust rod, entonation, and instal a CrunchLab/liquifire on it to try... Man... I will not refund the guitar for all the gold in the world. It´s absolutely amazing!!! I don´t know how it sound with the original ones, but man...I have no words.

I know that this is heavily modified but, it was made in 2003 and is incredibly well preserved. Absolutly new except for routing and pickups, and I got a very good price.

Some picks:

Look at those frets... Remember made and shipped to Barcelona, Spain in 2003!!!

Congrats. If you're happy with the guitar then that is all that matters!

My Axis is a 2003 as well, I bought it used and the previous owner took very good care of it also. Enjoy your new guitar!!

Mmm last time I took one of my guitars apart, it said N2 on the neck. But then again it did not have the 'PAF' sticker on it. Maybe there is a whole new market for EVH/Axis guitars with or without the 'PAF' sticker!
