hi, all
what's the difference, in your opinion, between a sterling and a sr5, beside the fact that the latter has yer 5 strings? also, what's anyone's opinion of a japanese-made fender jazz bass special? thanks...

That's something I was thinking of too... I THINK a SR5 is rather a Sterling5 than a SR5. Both of the SR5 and the Sterling have the PU selector, and it's doing quite the same thing on the SR5 and the Sterling, and the SR hasn't got this selector. Maybe someone has got a logical explanation for this ...

You're right except the SR5 came before the Sterling.

Do a searh on this forum and you'll find all kinds of info here.

I traded my Sterling in to get my Stingray5. The sound is very close except my Sterling had a rosewood board and the Stingray5 has maple. So far I glad I switched. I am G.A.S. ing for another SR4 however!

I bought my SR5 at Bass Central in Orlando. They had a huge selection of Bongos and Stingrays. I tried the Bongos first but I just don't like the finish on the neck. They sounded great, however. When I played my SR5 it just felt right and I got a color (Blue Dawn) that totally rocks. I can't say enough about Bass Central and their staff. Beaver and Grasshopper treated me and my bandmate like we were old friends.

Wait, you're trying to tell me there are guys named Beaver and Grasshopper working at the same store?

BEAVER? GRASSHOPPER?

Seriously, now, these guys are named....whoa, wait a second.

I know Beaver. Crap, I know Grasshopper, too.

Never mind.

They are good guys, aren't they?
