Re: oiling up the truss wheel

Ok folks as my previously thread got locked i just said id let everyone know how things worked out. I know some of ye couldnt get where i was coming from with my questions, it wasnt that i didnt understand what you were saying but i did want to double check everything before i went ahead and did anything, a musicman isnt exactly a cheap bass after all and i didnt want to have to fork out on a new neck.

ANYWAY getting back to the point the truss wheel is now lubed up nicely and is moving freely. The bass is now set up to a T and playing sooooo nice its unreal, making me laugh thinking back at my warwick with its tree trunk neck!! Thanks for all the support there and the help from anyone who gave it, its because of you guys that i now understand the way truss rods(and the truss wheel) work and now i can adjust pretty much anything on me bass, so cheers for that much better than forking out for a "Pro" to fix it and never learning how to do it myself.

P.S. Sorry mods for posting this but just said id let people know how everything turned out.

Not a problem at all, Barry, and I'm glad you got it worked out. It was just that things were going all over the place and I didn't want people getting worked up emotionally over what is/was really just a tech question.

Glad it all worked out! The advice I gave you was pretty much how I learned how to do my own basic repairs and I guess I've been lucky so far...

Hopefully the bottom line that you see is that it's really easy to do a lot of damage to a bass with a couple of tools and a few minutes of your time. Nobody wants you to have a problem with any bass - so take your time, understand as much as you possibly can before you touch a wrench, and be careful. I just got done changing the oil and fuel filter in my car (diesel, hence the fuel filter) and think that knowing basic car maintenance is important as a driver. Same story with bass guitars - and repair shops are closed about 99.9% of the times I've had a gig.
