Greydad, I think that makes you metro. :)

Right on, BP. Pure, unadulterated sound.

I gotta go with the clean, pure attack, though I admit I do own a pedal-board and 7-8 Boss effect pedals...

They just never come out unless I'm alone AND they never leave my house! :)

I was subliminally affected by this thread so went and funked with the mini Q-Tron for half an hour. I notice if I turn that big knob on the right to where it says "BP" all my lovely fat SR5HH tone disappears...

I think it's another subliminal message: "BongoPurchaseBongoPurchaseBongoPurchase..." :D

Real bass players don't have to talk about what it takes to be a real bass player. Sounds like the rest of you have been spending too much time with guitar players.

REAL BASS PLAYERS know the position of every note on the fretboard without thinking about it. :) Wish I could.

Play 4 string Stingrays (and only use two of the four strings), don't use pedals or bass pods of any type, and only use Ernie Ball cables to connect to their choice of amps.

I agree with the 4 strings, although I want an SR5 20th.
I agree with the no pedals... for the most part (I use an Octave Pedal on RARE occasion)
And I agree with choice of amps, though that should say MarkBass. :D
