I was subliminally affected by this thread so went and funked with the mini Q-Tron for half an hour. I notice if I turn that big knob on the right to where it says "BP" all my lovely fat SR5HH tone disappears...

I think it's another subliminal message: "BongoPurchaseBongoPurchaseBongoPurchase..."

REAL BASS PLAYERS know the position of every note on the fretboard without thinking about it. Wish I could.

Play 4 string Stingrays (and only use two of the four strings), don't use pedals or bass pods of any type, and only use Ernie Ball cables to connect to their choice of amps.

I agree with the 4 strings, although I want an SR5 20th.
I agree with the no pedals... for the most part (I use an Octave Pedal on RARE occasion)
And I agree with choice of amps, though that should say MarkBass.
