This probably sounds like a newbie question, but really how much different can one cab loaded with Vintage 30's sound over a different brand with exactly the same speakers in it?

Many cabinets are tuned these days to achieve different tones. Also the type of wood (normally it's a birch ply) used can have an effect. Size, if it's open/closed backed and of course the way it's wired. I prefer quad boxes to be wired in stereo (8 ohms) I just like that sound.

cabs ALL greatly color & disperse the sound differently....
disperse ????
:)
i'm runnin too late to look it up......:D

open back cabs sound different on every stage i ever get stuck trying to use them.
closed back typically have a tighter bass response & a lower resanant frequency....& sound much more consistant from stage to stage.

Yep John Suhr kicked butt on that design. He did it on a CAD program to
simulate a 4x12's response in a 2x12. Low end for days.

Aint that the truth - I swear if you had blindfolded me then I would have said I was in front of a 4 * 12.

My OD-100 is coming tonight - I'll be ordering the cab asap!

Do they (CAE) install speakers to your spec, or do they just come with V30's? They are appealing looking, they kind of toward the high end of how much I'd figured on spending for a cab though, but they're in there... Some of the suggestions, while I'm sure are great cabs, I just couldn't really justify.

I think I'm somewhere in the middle between the CAE cab, and the Ear Candy cab. I don't know which I'd prefer. Ear Candy though, will make it whatever I want. Which is a bonus.

Wow, nice playing! I'm leaning toward the V30's even more after hearing that. I really liked the sounds from the Axis and Marshall amps.

Thanks for the comments ... i am not happy with the playing ! Those clips were improvised and recorded in a hurry.

I really like the Vin30's mixed with G12T's in the same 4x12 ! It rawks !

Thanks man!!!!!
I love my Rig... It really is the best sounding gear I have ever used.
I have been through So Many Amps through the years.
I am finally satisfied with my gear. It only took 15 years! :D

DC

It must of cost a pretty penny too. :p I use a Mesa Boogie Rec atm, it's not really the amp for me, but l used to do some fill in work, and previous bands wanted that type of sound, you know that high gain mesa sound that every band sounds like. I miss out on a Bonehead a little while ago, but l'll probably ended up very soon trading the mesa for a rivera knucklehead, the CAE stuff is a bit out of my price range atm. But one day l'll get one.:D :D

I have an EarCandy Buzzbomb 2x12, and I love it. On their website it says the Buzzbomb will put out a ton of bottom end and they're not lying. They can more than hang with a 4x12. Mine has Eminence speakers in it, and they sound great. On their Eminence page, EarCandy makes suggestions as far as mixing them and which cabs they match up well with, it's a helpful guide. Tim Paulsen is the guy there. When I emailed them when I was looking for a cab, he emailed back within a couple of hours and told me to feel free to call him and talk about the cab. Customer service is top notch.
