Recommend me a good amp

You mention you want alot of versatility and tube tone at bedroom/practise levels. Just for a laugh try out one of the Crate Amps with the Flexwave preamp. Dirt cheap, great tone (yeah I know..it's Crate so how can that be?) very versatile and light.

I will take a look but I must say I'm not a fan of Crate... my friend used to have one and... yuk! Didn't like it at all, I can't remember what model it was though...

Me either... it was one of those weird moments in the store when I was like "That's the Crate? Wow, when did they get good?" Having said that, only the one's with that particular preamp, the GT/GTX/GFX sound ok to me.
