Thought of that scares me too... I'll just stick to lemon oil and elbow grease I think... :)

I use EBMM guitar polish and a soft cloth for the body....lemon oil for the fretboard.....hammer for when my fingers don't want to grab that chord correctly. :D

Thing if Tiffs, I am naturally blonde and academically quite clever, but can just be very, erm, ditsy when the occasion calls for it! Not as bad as my mum or sisters so I guess there's hope for me yet! :D

Right so far I've got
  • lemon oil
  • proper polishing cloth
  • dunlops/ebmm polishing stuff..

what about hardware and whatnot for any "tweaking" that may be required?

I use a light coat of Mr. Town Talk orange wax ( made in the U.K.) every few weeks to clean and protect the back of the neck. Plus it smells nice.:D

A set of hex (allen) keys and a 6" steel ruler to measure string height and pickup height are also helpful.

Like the FAQ says the best thing you can do to keep the neck clean is wash your hands before playing.

Azzy, I find if you purchase a can of tuna in brine, you give the tuna to your cat and rub your bass neck down with a cloth soaked in the brine. You leave your bass face-down on the floor, and your cat will gently sand the neck of the bass with it's tongue until it is smooth and shiny.

You may then wish to rub with lemon/orange oil as required to improve the smell. Works a treat!

:D

Normy I didn't write that. When I grow up I want to be a rocket guy like you!
1. It's a MAC
2. You didn't? Oops! Sorry 'bout that. The syntax just looked so familar. I just saw it as a chance for me to pick on you so you could pick on me. I thought that's what we do here.
3. That implies that one of us is going to grow up. Me, I like being a kid and I plan to stay a kid forever and ever here in Never Never Land. Where did you say the turn signal fluid was. I got some of that last time and it worked great! I remember it was expensive though.

I'm going to hijack my own thread by mentioning the cat... unfortunately she is no longer with us :( She was never ours - she adopted us at our last house - she'd come and stay with us during the day, sometimes overnight - was really good for keeping me and Trev company. But then her owners moved away :( :( :(

I'll stop now before I cry and go and hunt down some lemon oil...

Sorry to hear you no longer have your feline visitor Azzy, couldn't you get one of your own? We inherited our 16 year old monster after there was a death in my girlfriend's family. We are only renting our flat at the mo', so we shouldn't really have an pets, but after explaining the circumstances to the landlord she was alright with it. Besides, he's very clean when he's not coughing up kitten sized furballs!

:)

They have said new pets... but once we've been here a year I plan to ask! I've had cats my whole life and can't get used to not having one anymore... hopefully he'll say yes :)
