One more question (I'm starting to sound like Colombo now), does anyone think the matching headstock looks good and completes the instrument, or like me, prefers the natural wood headstock?

Dom,

That's a personal preference, and the reason you can order it either way. Personally, I tend to like the matching headstocks. But I don't think the natural headstocks are ugly or less impressive, either. I'd play the guitar either way. ;)

Radience Red is not discontinued... you can order the luke in that color. My understanding is that Rad Red is lighter than candy red. I think it's also more sparkly.

Personnally I prefer a matching headstock but that is just personal preference

The piezo element in the saddles needs pressure from the strings in order to work. If you set the piezo bridge to float, there will not be enough string pressure to make the saddles work properly. How many acoustic guitars have whammy bars anyway?

I saw a peavey w/ one a few years ago. As you guessed, I haven't seen it since. :p

Nope it see them too. Dude, either locate a Radiance Red or go for the candy apple one.

The whites nice, but it seems a little bit plain to me. Now if it were White Sparkle, well that's a different story, that would be sweet. I know that some where made, but I'll stop with the sparkle color stuff.

I wonder where white instruments fall in the total sales catagory?? You guys must track this sort of thing right??

Thanx, Glenn |B)

Someone on a privious post I researched said that their Piezo Luke didn't sound as good as his regular Luke, something to do with the battery powering both and a loss of output. Is there any truth to this? I don't what to do the 2 battery thing either. Thanks,

Dom

I have a Piezo Silo with EMG's. One battery for both works fine. The current draw for both devices is so small that a single 9 volt can handle it just fine.

I remember reading that post. I think it was Jdouglee.

I really like the sound of mine. I'm not playing live a whole lot, so I just typically blend in some piezo with the mags. It's a great fingerpicking clean tone.

The guitar's magnetic pups sounds better than one of my non-piezo lukes, and not quite as good as the other to my ears.

Some of this is luck of the draw and personal sound preference.
If you have no other Luke to compare it to, I wouldn't worry about it.

You can always find a used Luke if you decide to buy another. But Piezo Lukes are pretty rare birds, so that would be the one I'd order.

Hope that helps.

These pictures are killing me! That radience red looks like a candy apple. I compared it side-by-side to a candy red and I could barely tell the difference. I thought it would be a lot lighter than the candy red.

Of the two I'd say red. For some reason, I always think white looks cheap. Just me. Unless it's a pearlescent white which is a gorgeous way of doing them.

Have you considered Lava Pearl? I think a Luke would look amazing in that :D

I finally ordered A candy apple red Luke w/ natural headstock and no piezo. Randy at our local store here in the desert helped by bringing in a customer's Luke that he sold months ago, just so I could play it and get a feel for the neck before I committed.----awesome small store service.

I must say it felt better than my Axis. Now all I have to do is wait 2 months. I can't wait. Thanks for all the help guys,

Dom

I thought i would also follow up this thread.
