Reflex being retried/EOL ?

I am always impressed with music man guitars, but the Reflex is the only one I like to play.
I was considering another purchase and I was told I needed to be quick as the reflex is being taken out of production.

Is there any truth in this ?
 
Oh it be true. Very sad about it myself as I intended to get a Reflex sometime. Will have to get a used one but I'm not big into used gear.
 
According to Scott's list of what's staying and going from the other day, the Game Changer will still be available- it's the Reflex guitar with the GC electronics. So it's still there.
 
Don't fear the GC! I love mine. I know people want a fancier color palette but I've grown to love the black. Great guitar in every way and my main gigging axe.
 
I'm also sad to see it disappear as my 25th is one of my main guitar. Not sure I fancy having a game changer instead.the game changer is a fantastic concept but I tend to look in ten or twenty years from now. What will happen with all the electronics inside? Do I will still have a USB port available to change the pickup configuration? Will EBMM still support the software to manage pickup configuration?

In 20 years my 25th will only need a cable to be fully functional.

This is the main reason why as much as I find the gamechanger interesting I will probably never get one.

I fiddled around with my Gamechanger for a while, but now I've settled in on the settings that I like. I don't hardly tweak with it anymore. I completely happy with 8 of the 10 easily selectable positions and I'm still slowly auditioning for two more that really aren't that critical to my playing.

After that...well you will hardly need the USB. That's what's really cool. I've got this guitar 90% dialed in and I've never broken out the soldering iron!

I love my 25th but honestly I can't say that I have every pickup position dialed in. Pos 2 and 3 in both parallel and series sound eerily similar, especially with any gain on the amp. In 20 years...they will still sound similar.

well, I'm very glad that this gamechanger fits your needs. I don't think I want to gamble on the future of technology for a guitar or rely on EBMM will to continue to support the software or not in 10 years from now. A guitar is a lifetime instrument, a computer is not and will be (or could be) obsolete in 5 years time.
 
I'm scared of the GC. I'm a real failure with technology. I have a hard enough time operating a 5 way switch and series/parallel switch.:):)

I know this is an insane idea, but would you consider auctioning off any "surplus" parts on discontinued items to the forum members? I surely could use a roasted maple neck for my silo special,and quite a few other things.....

Thanks for the vote of confidence,Kev. I had a Fender Cyber Twin. It had 300 presets and a midi board that operated everything. I found myself constantly using only 3 channels. I got rid of it and went to a 2 channel tube amp. It was just "overkill" for my needs. If I was a gigging musician, I'd probably consider the GC. My 25th has quickly become my favorite. It does it all. Perhaps when my kids are a little older, I'll have more "playing time" available; time to regret not buying a GC.
 
I don't want a game changer, I find it odd that the game changer is staying but the non-techno version is being retried ? its the same body/neck it's just the internals that changes right ? so why end a great guitar but leave it's twin still on the list ?

I guess I need to start hunting reflex's in the spec I like, as my dealer wouldn't take a new order and could only offer me what they had in stock, which wasn't what I wanted.

I guess you didn't get my point. But the telephone is a fantastic example. You don't keep a telephone too long (a bit longer for a car) how long could I keep a gamechanger up and fully functional? With all respect BP I doubt someone will play the game changer in 20 years from now cause we do t know how technologies will evolve, while the Reflex/25th will still get a lot of love. Like all vintage guitars do
 
could someone confirm if this is factually correct - the reflex is being end of life'd if so when ?

Is there any time for UK dealers to get orders in ?

I believe you are incorrect. If you want a reflex, (1) buy the GC and clone the reflex. (2) Unplug the USB forever. Done. Now you have a reflex. (Then, for ****s and giggles, clone your twenty other favorite pickup configurations to the toggle switch, or, you know, just use ones created by Music Man artists.)

It's not like the GC system is powered and maintained by fembots who take orders from Dr. Evil, who will one day return to Ohnoitstechnology World. It's simple. It works. If for some reason MM decides to orphan the web app, which I can't see happening, you still have a reflex.
 
I don't mind the product being technical. I am a graduated engineer since 25 years :)

So I use iPad iPhone MacBook and all this crap. So I love technology but that level of technology in a guitar doesn't sound like something I wanna keep for years.

Whatever I have a 25th bfr and I'm very happy with it.

Sad to see the reflex going.
