Refret Question

I've got three Anderson guitars with SS frets and I love them. If one of the EBMMs ever needs new wire, it will be SS for sure. As others have said, it makes bending a dream. I'm not a really fast player, so I tend to grab a note and work with it. SS frets suit my style (and I use that term loosely) perfectly.

I heard that EBMM will do a re-fret of the original frets of your EBMM guitar. So if they came with say Dunlop 6105s and you wanted 6100s they wouldnt do the 6100s. Only the 6105s.

I could be wrong.


Also what are the frets made out of, and what size are that EBMM currently uses on they Silos? 6100? 6105s?

I have SS frets on my Luke... I had it done 2 years ago and this guitar gets played a LOT... I do most of my cover gigs with it and a lot of teaching..

I don't notice any wear at all on my Luke... its just sings and is very easy to play...

I have no issues at all with stainless steel frets.

I usually need to polish frets every month or so, to maintain the "mirror shine" on them, and, of course, after a few months they actually need dressing. If this is not needed with SS then I am sold.

it depends very much on an players chemical makeup... some people just wear out traditional frets quickly and many have to polish the frets on their guitars every few months..

I know BP and a few others are not fans of SS frets and of course everyone is different... but I don't find a problem with them... on my guitar they are great.. I've even considered getting a second hand Luke and having exactly the same mod done...

I live in Ireland and I found this guy who repairs and rebuilds expensive watches like Rolex and Omegas... he also repairs guitars for fun....
his refret work is astonishing and his attention to detail is something to behold... nothing less than perfection... he refreted my Luke at very reasonable cost and I'm very happy.

Ok noob question. What does re dressing and capping involve? My Silo is god but I have an older guitar that may down the road need new frets. If I Can get the freshened up for alot less I would prefer it.
