Call me stupid (most do) but if you use harder frets, won't they wear your strings faster??? My SS had a fret dress in 2004 after 5 years of (frequently nightly) gigging. Frets are fine now, but some grooves in the fretboard.

Yes stainless steel frets probably do wear strings slightly faster than nickle silver... But I'd rather change strings than frets. The feel of stainless steel frets is simply much nicer IMHO - they are incredibly smooth!
