Yeah, and it's even stranger to me, that some of them (like Andy Summers Tele, e.g.,)cost more than 9,000 EUR or roughly 13,000 US$ - You've got to be crazy to pay that much for any tele made of standard woods like ash or alder (if it was the ancient chinese oak, we'd be talking, though :D).

Well, I have one, that is deffinitely not "worn from the factory" :)

More on it in this thread:

even stranger is the new road worn line from brand F. they are charging $900 for a mexi made strat...that has some relicing done to it. you can buy a non relic'd one for $350.

you do the math......it's BS. i've never understood the relicing concept. just buy an old guitar and play the hell out the thing...for that matter...just abuse it while you play it if that's what you want.

i do like how the unfinished maple on our beloved Balls shows dirt pretty quickly...that's attractive to me.

Yeah, I never understood that "worn from the factory" thing. It's like how they sell cool jeans now, they are totally worn down with holes in them. Does it not defeat the purpose of wearing it down yourself?

The thing about the "factory relics" is that no matter how "perfectly" they relic them, they'll NEVER "feel" like the instrument they're trying to emulate....

My $0.02....

My Morse, sad to say, has a scratch on it sorta where my forearm sits. Here's the stupid part. I got it by taking the guitar off me and it hit the SM-57 on the mic stand. It didn't go through the clearcoart to the paint; but still..:(

I like some of the better i.e. custom shop relics, that other manufacturers make. The thing is I dont like to mark a nice guitar. With a relic it doesnt matter if you bash it.As I can only afford older EBMM's ,they tend to come already reliced.Twenty years is a long time to wait for the Relic Mojo. DK's 87 is super cool.

How the hell did he pull off the damage on the back? I just can't fathom it, unless he just got bored one night and took a steak knife to it.

yea, what the hell? looking at the rust on the bridge and the damage to the back - my guess....he was playing in a thunderstorm and got struck by lightning.

Whats going on with the paint on the lower horn? Is it nitro over poly?

There is a video where BP is sitting with Steve and he mentions how he likes the story a guitar has to tell by it's wear. BP then went on to tell Steve to not let his wife fill in the chips with her nail polish...

OOOHHH----that is SOOOO dirty. I love it... ;) My Silo neck gets like that, but your neck is so sick...and dirty...

(no offense intended, as it's human caused I'm sure)

regarding the purple Axis, here's what the seller said about the back;

"it was done with the belt....
I PLAYED WITH THIS GUITAR FOR LIKE 10 YEARS..."

I guess he wore the same firggin belt/buckle for 10 years... wow!
