If I was to remove the neck, would it have any affect on the truss rod? Or is it just a simple unscrew, then screw back on process?

Removing the neck will have no affect on the truss rod. If you leave the neck off for a long period of time loosen the truss rod or the neck could back bow, but if its just for a bit, dont worry.

if it backbows is there a risk the the fretboard will come off or something?

No, the fretboard won't come off, but a back bowed neck is unplayable

So i've just taken the neck off, and now im confused.... There is an ink stamp on the body which says jan 4th 2000, but there is a pencil date on both body and neck which says 2-10-00... any ideas which is the "d.o.b"?

Neither. The neck was finished on Jan 4th and the body on Feb 10th. They will have been put together afterwards. I'm guessing that Jon will give "2/10" as the dob if you give him the serial number.

Ahhh right, well I tried to work it out with serial number and the serial number database, but I wanted to see what the stamps said. The serial is E12326, which worked out to be somewhere in feb 2000.

Correct. The date on the neck is when the fret job was done. Usually the instrument is put together the same day as the fret work. Give me a S/N and i will check it out for you
