I'm bringing this over from the bass forum. Aparently it's tough to get a replacement neck, outside of EB that is. What do these EB necks run? It would be for an Axis. I've got a rosewood and I'd like maple at some point. I just have a feeling replacements are expensive through EB.

I know from experience that way your EBMM left the factory is how you will get it back after you have any repairs done by EB. They will not add or remove any of the original options. Any mods have to be done outside the EB factory by you.
Yeah that's what I meant, I just typed it wrong. I want a maple neck and mine is rosewood. That is strange that I can't put the neck I want on MY guitar, it's not like its under warranty or anything. I did pay for it didn't I? I'm surprised you don't get huge complaints about this policy. People pay alot of money for these guitars and it seems like they should had the option to mod a guitar they buy and own as much as they see fit. So how do you keep track of these necks, is is by serial number?

Yep, by serial number. 
When a company start's selling "parts" off,then you get part'scasters being built.
Really,just check out fender replica's.
I know an established luthier considered by many to be the best in this country within his niche.He can make a guitar look like a fender by ading a decal,it aint hard especially when you consider that the vintage series have decals over the finish,as do vintage f's rather than under...Reckon you could tell the difference between stock and a well made replica?...well okay it would probably be better made than a fender cool:
There is also a company here in the UK that make fantastic wellmade guitars that cost 1500 plus and one of their models is a direct ripoff of the axis.Right down to the small details.
I digress but I comend ebmm on this policy because they could make a hellalot of cash by selling neck's and bodies out the door....but you don't have to question the authenticity of an ebmm...You wouldn't believe the idiots that buy vintage Telecasters and spend thousands only to discover they got stung by an allparts body and a tin of nitro....

Careful with the f word. But l can see your point. What would stop anyone from buying a Axis nech and building a cheap Axis body and passing it off as an original. But l just thank god theres a company like Ernie Ball that makes fantasic guitars at a reasonable price, and you know you are going to get a top notch guitar, and if you have any problems with it there is top notch customer support to go with it.
