I bought my MM Silhouette Special in 2005, before the compensated nut was offered. I recently managed to crack it in half and need to replace it (preferably before Saturday). I was shown the compensated nut when I went to the store but they couldn't answer this question:

Does my 2004 Silhouette need any modification to use a compensated nut or do I just simply install and reintonate?

I love my Silhouette and Axis and can't wait to add an Albert Lee and a Reflex to my collection.

Yep, as Colin said, you can only buy a EB compensated nut as a replacement if your guitar came with one in the first place. EB compensated nuts are not drop in replacements - the front edge is in a different position and the front-to-back thickness is different.

Any regular nut of the same dimensions and string spacing will do fine, I think you can get regular EB nuts too if you give customer service a call.
