They're not active. There is a silent circuit that runs on the battery. You can use any regular 250K pot of your liking. These are normal custom DiMarzio pickups. Unless of course you got this guitar used and someone put EMGs in it? Either way, welcome and congrats on the guitar.

Also, maybe you want to check the wiring making sure everything is in tact there? It should be no problem replacing it though.

Hi, first on your question, the pups are only active if someone replaced the originals with EMG or some other brands active pups, if the are stock a 250 will work, you can order a direct replacement from Musicians Friend, I have done this a few times.

NOw pics? well if you are trying to upload to the EB Froum it is requiring admin authorization since your a newbie, try using a hosting website like photobucket to upload and link here.

OK Now PICS it is an unwritten rule no pics no guitar:) and welcome to the forum!!

As Keith said ... it takes a few posts before you're allowed to post pics here. I just approved them so you're all good.

There's nothing fancy about the pot, it's just a CTS 250k with a log (audio) taper. If you're in the US, you can order one from MM directly. In other countries, call your local distributor. But this is a standard pot, you should be able to find it in any guitar store or from an electronic distributor.

When in doubt ... contact the MM customer service dept and they will help get you straightened out.

That's definitely an older SiloSpecial there! Lets see some full body shots. Looks like it has seen a lot of use. That trim pot is actually the silent single coil circuit. That tremolo is also a Wilkinson, so you can actually get a whole new replacement or replacement saddles if you wanted to.

Man, that Silo has been PLAYED! Love it. I use a little lemon oil to clean my necks and it works great. The oxidation should come off easily with the aforementioned soaking. Don't be discouraged, these issues are easily corrected. You obviously have a great guitar or it wouldn't have been given so much play time. Congrats

I'd completely dissassemble it, soak the entire thing in naptha/lighter fluid, and then scrub it with a hard bristle toothbrush.
Thanks! i will try to do what you said

Thanks you very much. I really apreciate the info. what can do if i use the trimpot? what that gonna make ?

I will post some full body shots tomorrow. the serial number is 97962 i think its some of the first ones

I will try to clean with naphta first, but if it does not quit the oxide i will remplace it

The Silent Circuit is used to remove hum from the single coil pickups. Adjusting the trimpot changes the amount of hum removed. If it's working well, best advice is to leave it where it is.
