I have an ASS MM90 and I have to say I dont really like the bridge pickup sound, I love the front one but the back doesnt do it for me.

So I have bought a P90 sized ToneZone from DiMarzio.

The question is regarding the wiring and particularly the Silent Circuit.

From what I understand it only works on single coils when they are selected on their own - ie: the middle position doesnt use it. That would tend to suggest that I would only need the front pickup (when selected on its own) going through it.

Can anyone confirm or deny....

If you have a circuit diagram then even better :)

BTW it is a piezo too and the schematic on the website has boxes when I need wires and colours :confused:

P.S. I seem to have pulled the trigger on a purple Silo Special on daBay too this evening........:eek:

I was eyeballin' that one. Just couldn't bring myself to do it with the Y2D Morse / Y2D Silo conundrum that I'm in.... Great snag.

Hey Dave,

You'll need the silent circuit whenever you have odd numbers of coils (the eventh coil is wired up to subtract hum). In this case, you'll have hum when the MM90 is on it's own AND when it's wired up with the HB. The HB is noise-cancelling itself; you'll be adding a noisy pickup to a non-noisy pickup resulting in a noisy combination :p

You will need to re-wire the Silent Circuit to do this. Off-hand I'm not sure how, but it shouldn't be a big deal. Email customer support and ask them to email you a wiring schematic of the ASS MM90 Piezo. From that we can work out which wires should go where.

J.

(Btw- congrats on the Silo Spec. I've wanted one with a maple board ever since I saw Vinny play one.)

Sigmund is torn between getting a y2d or a 20th Anniversary Silhouette. I haven't been making it easy for him :D

I'm getting both. It's just which one is first...

Y2D = 2 Decades = 20 Years = 20th Anniversary. It's easier to type Y2D Silo than 20th Anniversery Silhouette.. I guess I'm just lazy.
