I'm about to embark on some experiments regarding strange and unusual string gauges, but before I attempt to remove any of the nuts on my StingRays, how are they affixed to the bass? What's the best way of removing the existing nut?

The first step is to get this book...

Uh, thanks. I have that book already. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as it realtes specifically to StingRays...

but then, come to think I don't think I *would* like a StingRay filing *my* nuts, so... ;)

I'd just use Dan Erlewine's advice as it's written. Well, to be honest, I'd probably take it to a luthier I trust :)
