Replacment necks(and not the carbon ones)

Hey everybody, i'm a new MM owner and i have a bit of a problem:

i just bought a used stingray 4 fretless for $700 canadian(about $590 US) , its a great bass and has all the options, so i'm happy about the purchase. BUT the reason why it was so cheap is because its got a twisted neck, so i need a new one. i'm gonna go fretted on it though. i have looked everywhere for someone who does replacment necks for MM's but cant find a thing except for the carbon ones(which i cant afford, nor want).

If anybody knows where i can get a good neck for a stingray 4, then it would be much appreciated if you pass the info along. I'd even go for a used one, it doesnt matter. i just want to get this thing on stage as soon as possible!

I'm sure one of the EB employees (watch out for Jongitarz!) will let you contact them to get a replacement. It's only a matter of time...

With EB, it's a one for one exchange. I think you'll have to ship them the bass for them to replace the neck, and:

a. not sure what the cost for that would be and
b. they may only replace a fretless neck with another fretless neck.

Neck and Neck

When I was at the EB facotry last week, Jon showed me a bin full of reject necks - they all seemed to have some sort of truss rod flaw (though it's not apparent by just looking at them). He told me they would all be cut up later on.

I would guess that your neck was supposed to wind up in this pile, but it got away with being set up and shipped.

They also have a guy who tunes basses all day long. The only music you hear aloud in the factory is this guy playing open notes and a random bassline here and there.

Sounds like the perfect job for me! Sitting around all day playing MM basses and getting paid for it!

Those necks in the bin were for the most part back bowed, and had nothing to do with the trussrod. Wood changes over time and I am sure that is what happened to the neck in question. It would not have left the factory in that condition.

Also, the guy Elson says just tunes basses all day is a set up guy. He bolts on the necks puts strings on files the nut slots adjusts the truss rods sets string and pickup height, sets intonation, plays every note making sure it plays great when it leaves the factory. He does this with guitars and basses.

As far as replacing the neck, Jack was right. It has to be the exact replacement.

on that note, any chance of getting a replacement stingray neck with a black painted headstock?

I think my burnt apple would look awesome with a matching or black stock-plate..
