In another thread, I was asked:

Sosomething, just an out of topic question (sorry for the hack...) :
I see that you have a bandcamp account. Bandcamp seems to be great (no ad, you can sell your music ...). Is it as good as it looks ? Can you share your experience with them ?
Thanks a lot

So far Bandcamp.com has been great to us.

When the service first got off the ground, there were no fees, charges, or ads of any kind. They gave you a fast, easy-to-configure template to create an appealing and user-friendly music retail interface for fans. You could set whatever prices you want and receive 100% of the profits from all music sales.

Recently, Bandcamp has informed its users that they will begin charging a small percentage on the sales (15% up to the first $5000 gross and 10% after that). They're doing this to keep ads off the site and to be able to expand and add additional services to users. The vast majority of users are OK with this. It's still worth it.

As for the interface; you can add your own graphics and info, sell individual tracks or whole albums, manage orders for physical CDs, set up package deals, create promotional codes, and create download coupons for free downloads that you can either give away or sell at shows, etc.

In addition to that, you get a decent URL (ours is devilsofbelgrade.bandcamp.com), a really cool way to catalog all your releases, free streaming of as much or as little music as you want to offer, and your updates/uploads appear instantly.

It also shows up real high on search engines when people search for you.

Just to be clear - I'm not an affiliate - just a happy user. Everybody in my band loves it.

Thanks a lot for your clear and interesting answer.
Now, I definitely have to open an account for my band !

Like all the bands, we have a MySpace ... but really MySpace sucks.
We are obliged to have a MySpace because everybody is on MySpace but really the technical aspects of MySpace are annoying (you cannot change the design, there are stupid ads ...).
BandCamp seems to be one of the most musician-friendly solution of the cyberspace.

Thanks again for sharing your experience
