Hey All,

been flat out at work since 14th February and up till 1st April been working 18+ hour days, now thay I'm on wind down and reconnecting with my family...I'm back posting again. very much feast or famine in my industry right now, so not bitching, just very tired!

As part of my working really hard I ended up with some chest pains, to cut a long story short I'm not going to die soon (as far as I know)

but it has taught me a couple of lessons around priorities, so.... I sold a bunch of guitars off (Including my Axis & Sub1) - and have 4 Balls - I have 1 space left of my guitar rack then I'm done, no more for at leat 15 years or until i retire, I've spent A LOT over the last 4 years in balls and amps and I'm in the "you're not good enough to keep spending this amount on gear" - so as I've never played a guitar with MM90's or owned a silo special, I think I'm going to surprise you all with whatever I endup with as my last ball, but I promise it needs to be my last (unless I sell another one!;))

So what say you - what do you think I should get - (bear in mind I'm 250 miles from any kind of dealer, my local shop though BFR was a type of string!) so it'll probably come unplayed via the internet - something I have to say doesn't concern me in the slightest with Music man guitars as the quality is constantly high.

And even once my final piece is in place, I'll still post here, if that's ok with you all?

So get replying what should be smelly's final ball be!??

Good to see you back.

Too bad about your Axis as they are my fav. A JP or an SM would round off your collection. What about an another Axis with MM90’s.

The HH Al must be awesome from what I've heard (better yet: read) so far...I can confirm that the all-rosewood necks are such a joy to play and visually very appealing as well...so, how about Browndog's suggestion: MM90 Axis...if you manage to find one with rosewood top and neck...they tend to sell rather cheap sometimes.
A Y2D would be great addition as well (and JB plays one, too!).

P.S.: If you feel like you have too many Al's...;)

Smelly One, I whole heartedly appluade your decision and total agree with your thought process and can so relate on many levels.

I too have been doing alot of reprioritizing lately, I will soon be turning 50 (nothing wrong with it , just makes you think alot:)) and have been working two jobs and also realized I am not that good just a part time hobbist at guitar playing and have spent alot on EBMM's and equipment over the last few years, time o slow down and enjoy it:) So again good for you!

Now onto your final quest, man if you can get one make it an HH AL you will not regret it:cool::)

Should have jumped on my Purple ASS MM90 when you had the chance Smelly. Now she's staying for good ;) Like you I think I finally have all I need in my collection. Haven't had GAS pains since getting my BFR AL. May be I'll be tempted by an HH AL one day, but I'm not fussed. Gonna rock out the AL and 25th tonight...Paaaaaarty !!

Glad to hear you're OK, pains like that are a bit scary for sure. Looking forward to meeting up at the Knucklehead bash...assuming it's going ahead.

Keith,
Really good to hear this - especially from a fellow knucklehead, don't get me wrong if there's money to be spent it'll be on ernie ball products, but it just feels like I had the realisation that it was time to focus on something else, I have a wonderful collection of rare and amazing guitars (25th, BFR, Dargie) one last one to finish it off them I' m out - pensions, home improvements, holidays, all to jump up the list....

Glad I'm not going nuts.... However if this were an episode of the SImpsons BP would hit us over thehead and give us a drug to forget this crazy idea - LOL!

In November I'll have been playing and buying for 19 years, that's alot of guitars, amps and effects, still remember seeing my first EBMM - red hardtail EVH in Sound Control in Edinburgh - £1699! - A LOT of money back in those days... but when I got to play it - OOOOOOOOoooo hooked, took me 10 years to get to afford my own ball - never looked back.......OOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo Anyway....

I'm off to look at the strings and things website and see what DaveB has in stock;)

Man Up and get a Morse
Y2D Purple sunset with your choice of bridge. (The Floyds are recessed now)

Smelly - good to see you back - can you say what line of businees you are in?

Just curious.

My vote - 25th or reflex.

How could you go wrong?, and as you've stated you already have two Als.

Nothing wrong with having priorities. Reflection is a good thing....Hope you are feeling better.

I will always vote for an Axis guitar ;)

Smelly you are in similar circumstances to myself - son in Uni, new sofas, new this new that!!
The guitars I have, really do cover all bases - and there's the rub - I would be sorely tempted to get a bass maybe a Big Al? I'm waiting for some to pop up on the second hand market - but still have a while to go before I have the coin.

My 2d's worth is to hold fire for now - if it's going to be your last then make sure it's a good 'un!! How about a hardtail Red EVH (not mine though!!!)

More Ball's

What happened to that saying " The one who dies with the most ball's wins!"

Or something like that.....If I had a nickel for everytime my wife said "Thats

the last guitar!"

Smelly......sounds like you do taxes for us Yanks. Finishing up about now sounds right for April 15 deadlines. How's this for a strategy (I'm using it myself). Figure out what 1 guitar you could most do without. Sell it. Reassess. Repeat as needed. Whatever is the last one standing is the best one suited to you. If you feel there's another one that you feel is better than anything you have, get it during your selling process. You can throw it in the mix and decide if indeed it's the ONE.

I'm doing a bit of guitar downsizing myself, but I'm in no hurry and don't actually have to. Having a lower end guitar that I can leave in my cubacle at work has its advantages, so that one stays.
